Works are rapidly progressing in the planned northwest detour of the city of Larissa, in Saki Karagiorga street.
The Prefect, Mr. Kostas Agorastos made an in person visit accompanied by the deputy Prefect Miss Rena Karalioritou and the general Manager of the Perfecture Mr. Kosta Mega, where they had the opportunity to discuss with the supervisors of this project about the work in progress.
As Mr Agorastos highlighted the budget of this work is 18.6 million euros and it is of particular importance and use for the city of Larisa. Its completion will result in minimising the traffic congestion in the centre of the city with the construction of a bypass road at the northwest entrance to the city, connection with the traffic ring, three flat interchanges and a 60 metre bridge. Except for its role in the traffic system, the work contributes to the improvement of protection against floods while the new artery operates as an embankment of Peneus for the protection of Nea Smyrne. At the same time, it upgrades aesthetically the broader area, by offering to the citizens' access to various activities.
